On May 8th, Mr Peter Franklin will again be hosting a tournament in Whitehall, MI. All the proceeds from the tournament are donated to the American Cancer Society. Certainly a worthwhile cause.
Last year my club took 9 competitors to the event and returned with 11 trophies. We look forward to visiting with even more students this year. It was a well run and very enjoyable karate tournament.

We are looking to put a group of students together to compete in this tournament. We try to bring students of every rank and age group to take part in sparring and weapons.

The Second Annual Take A Kick At Cancer Karate Tournament was held on May 8th in Whitehall. All of the proceeds from that tournament went to the American Cancer Society. The tournament was larger this year due to more people being aware of it and also because that word had gotten around that it had been well run the previous year. The Muskegon Karate Club had 10 competitors at that tournament and all did very well with most of them placing in at least one event. David Eric Thomas - 2nd Dan took 3rd place in Black Belt Weapons and also took 2nd place in Black Belt Sparring - Heavyweight Division Robert Roy - 1st Dan took 2nd place in both Black Belt forms and Black Belt Sparring - Lightweight division. John Griffin took 3rd place in Senior Novice Forms. Sherry Frees took 2nd place in Senior Novice Forms. Andrew Frees took 3rd place in Yellow Belt forms in the 12-13 year old division. Jack Griffin took 1st place in Yellow Belt forms in the 7-8 year old division. Rodney Gonzales took 1st place in Adult Green Belt forms. Also competing at the tournament were: David Thomas 6th Dan Raymond Sinclair 2nd Dan Jeannie Waite 6th Grade Green. Congratulations to all who participated.
